Austin Newcomers Club President’s Letter

Hello, my dear Club members! I am so happy you have decided to join our very fun and active social club! With the arrival of the fall season, the weather is starting to get a little cooler, making it perfect for some outdoor activities.
Check out the September Calendar for things to do, since most of the Interest Groups are getting back into the swing of things. Hiking groups are ready to go as well as the book clubs. Take your book outside and enjoy the fresh air while reading! Be sure to sign up early for the Interest Group activities, since there may be a deadline or limited capacity.
Our Member Luncheons are starting again this month. The Program committee has lined up some great speakers. Be sure to sign up online, pre-pay securely with your credit card or send your check at least a week in advance. You will get a confirmation email once you register and then show up at the Balcones Country Club on the third Wednesday of the month for delicious food, good company and interesting speakers. Walk-ins and cash payments are not accepted.
September is also a good time to take a Bat Cruise on Lake Austin under the Congress Avenue Bridge for a close-up view of Austin’s colony of Mexican free-tail bats in the evenings. Or check out a Duck Tour of the City of Austin to learn some local history and facts about our fair city, plus splash down into Lake Austin on the amphibious tour bus. For extra fun, invite a friend or two to join you.
Austin Newcomers Club is always fun, so get out there and do something!
