Dear fellow Newcomers and Friends,
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful end to summer! This is such an exciting time of year with the start of a new school year. Despite the heat dome, our Newcomers and Friends Club had a busy August. Members played games, discussed books and movies, gathered for Happy Hour, and enjoyed a fun lunch. Our Audit Committee met over the summer and found the Club to be in solid financial condition. Please join me in thanking Kerstin Arnold, John Knox, and Guillermo Moncada for generously sharing their time and expertise to complete this important work. Our club runs totally on volunteer efforts, such as this.
I hope you will try at least one new Interest Group this fall. Please check our online calendar to see what activity you would like to try. The Happy Trails and Hearty Hikers groups have great walks planned and you might discover a new favorite place to enjoy the outdoors as temperatures cool down.
Every group and event will be happy to have you join in and you may discover a new passion while making new friends. Whether you are new to Austin or a long-time resident, you are welcome at all our Club activities. Come join us – we’ve been waiting to meet you!
