A synopsis of this month’s speaker is below.

Robb Kendrick is a guest speaker you won’t want to miss.  He spent 32 years as a photographer. Born in Spur, Texas, he attended East Texas State University, where his photographs of cowboys earned him a prestigious internship with National Geographic Magazine. As a freelance photographer, he was featured in National Geographic Magazine 16 times, as well as Audubon, Life, Smithsonian, and Sports Illustrated. His iconic photograph of “Ashley”  was the cover photo for “In Focus: National Geographic Greatest Photographs.”

However, as photography became digital, Robb was drawn to an earlier photographic art: tintypes. Tintypes, like paintings, are done by hand.  Each tintype is unique and one of a kind. Robb studied tintypes in upstate New York, where he mastered the historic art. His tintypes once again gained the attention of National Geographic. With a renewed assignment to visit a ranching community in Nevada, Robb became known for capturing cowboys’ dignity and honor and commitment to an unpretentious lifestyle.  He visited ranches in fourteen Western states, Coahuila, Mexico, and British Columbia, Canada.  The resulting publications of his work showed there would always be a universal fascination with the cowboy.

Robb Kendrick has graciously agreed to share his art and unique vision of the ranch community and cowboys with us, as well as many other diverse images.
