Each year the Bluebonnet and Yellow Rose Book Clubs gather for lunch with a local author as their speaker. This year Jo Ivester will discuss her book,

NEVER A GIRL, ALWAYS A BOY: A FAMILY MEMOIR of a TRANSGENDER JOURNEY.  This is the story of Jeremy’s journey from childhood, as a girl, to coming out as transgender. This is not only Jeremy’s story but that of his family, told from the multiple perspectives of Jeremy’s siblings and parents as they move from confusion to understanding – ultimately joining him in the battle against discrimination.

Jo Ivester is a graduate of both MIT and Stanford University and lives with her husband in Austin. They have four children and five grandchildren.

The lunch and talk will be held at Atria Senior Living at the Arboretum, 9306

Great Hills Trail Drive, Austin, TX 78759.

The Website has a start time of 11:00; however, the lunch will really begin at 11:30, followed by the talk.

Jo has asked for two mikes so the talk can be very interactive. She hopes to answer many questions.

You may register on the Austin Newcomer Website. Go to the Calendar for December 4th and click on Bluebonnet. Information and registration for the lunch will come up.  The cost for the lunch is $15. Registration is complete after you have sent a check or paid by Zelle or Venmo to Gayle Cannon. Details can be found on the Website. We would love to have you join us.
