Trust everybody, but cut the cards. – Finley Peter Dunne
I will once again offer a series of Beginning Bridge lessons in the fall. The dates will be early October until mid-November (ending by Thanksgiving). The course consists of 6 weekly 3-hour lessons and is designed for either complete beginners or "rusties" who played perhaps a little or a long time ago and want to update their game to the conventions being played today. As for my credentials, I am an experienced duplicate player, love the game and have been successfully teaching it since . . . . well, let's just say God was very, very young.
This course is designed for fun. There is no prerequisite, no pressure and no intimidation. Forget all those stories about nasty, aggressive bridge players who slap your wrists for making a bad bid or make you feel stupid because you never heard of the Glockenspiel convention. You will be playing the game on an elementary level by the end of the first session and have the confidence (and cheat sheets) you need to join the Newcomers beginners group by the end of the course. Everyone has a good time, laughs a lot and learns a fascinating game that will challenge you for the rest of your life. When your shoulder will no longer let you play tennis, your back forbids golf and your legs refuse to ski the trails, bridge will keep your mind from turning to mush - how many other games can make that promise?
Did I mention the best thing about these lessons? They're FREE! (Well, there is a small proviso - you pay up front and get cash back for each lesson you attend - at the end of the series, you have "earned" back your tuition.) OK. Let's review. We have FUN lessons, a great way to MEET new friends and - did I mention? - THEY'RE FREE! What do you have to lose?
There has been a waiting list each time I have offered the lessons. (Did I mention they're FREE?) Please contact me as soon as possible to get on the list. I will ask you for a check to hold your place in the class, but it is completely refundable right up until the day classes start. Because I am away for the summer, email (hawksnj@aol.com) is the best way to reach me. I look forward to hearing from you. — Janet
