We in the Austin Newcomers Club are privileged to have Chief Art Acevedo speak, as he completes his first year as Chief of the Austin Police Department. The Chief is a dynamic individual and veteran law enforcement professional who brings a well-established commitment to community outreach and coalition building to Austin. He strives to establish strong community relationships throughout the city with the goal of strengthening the relationship between the people of Austin and their Police Department. Chief Acevedo leads by example with a strong sense of community involvement through his own personal time and resources.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Chief Acevedo immigrated with his family to the United States in 1968. He completed a degree in Public Administration at the University of La Verne in Southern California. He and his wife, Tanya, are the parents of two children.

Come join us for the July luncheon to learn about Chief Acevedo’s plans for “Securing a Safe Future” for Austin.
